R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Frank Prosser of San Antonio on February 2, 2005, at the age of 80, has saddened all those who knew him, and we join his family and friends in reflecting on the proud legacy of this talented Texan; and WHEREAS, A native of Austin, Mr. Prosser attended Anderson High School before moving to San Antonio, where he was hired at the St. Anthony Hotel, beginning a remarkable career that would span three decades; and WHEREAS, His polished professionalism and rigorous work ethic quickly distinguished Mr. Prosser as an employee of rare potential, and time and again he fulfilled and surpassed his early promise as he rose through the ranks of the hotel's staff, eventually taking on the position of banquet manager; and WHEREAS, A wise and compassionate mentor whose influence far exceeded any job title, Mr. Prosser instilled in countless young people the same impeccably high standards of excellence that drove his own career; and WHEREAS, His business acumen was also evident in his work as an entrepreneur and real estate investor, and he brought to those vocations his characteristic diligence and sense of purpose; and WHEREAS, After his marriage to the former Melveline Townsend in 1958, he became a father to her daughter, Toni Morgan, and then to two more children, Francine and Bonnie, and his guidance as a role model on the lives of his daughters cannot be overestimated; and WHEREAS, Mr. Prosser was also a valued member of Second Baptist Church, and derived great joy and satisfaction from his fellow worshipers in that community of faith; and WHEREAS, Although the loss of such an individual is always painful, Mr. Prosser's high ideals and inspiring example will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the memory of Frank Prosser and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Melveline Prosser; to his daughters and their spouses, Francine Maria Prosser, Bonnie Marion Prosser Elder and Dr. Edward Carl Elder, and Toni Morgan DeMore and Frank K. DeMore; to his grandchildren, Gynell DeMore, William DeMore, Kevin DeMore, and Marissa Brooke Elder; to his siblings, Willie Prosser, Allan Rufus Prosser, Johnnie Luster Prosser, Mattie Prosser Ates, and Florence Prosser McBride; and to his other family members and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank Prosser.
