R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Emily Shane of Beeville has been selected as a
member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Women's
All-State Choir for 2005; and
WHEREAS, A junior at A. C. Jones High School, Ms. Shane earned
her spot in the prestigious group during auditions in Corpus
Christi; this talented young woman is performing with the
150-plus-member choir during the TMEA convention in San Antonio on
February 12, 2005; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Music Educators Association includes
nearly 9,000 school officials who foster public support for music
in schools, offer quality musical experiences for students,
encourage interaction among music education professionals, and
cultivate universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in
music; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Shane discovered her love of singing when she
auditioned for the third grade choir at Fadden-McKeown-Chambliss
Elementary School; with a passion for opera and classical music,
she has excelled for the past three years as a member of the A. C.
Jones High School choir, and in May 2004, she received a second
division medal at the State Solo Contest in Austin; she also lends
her lovely voice to the Beeville Community Chorus, a group that is
traveling to Italy to perform at the Vatican, and is a member of the
National Honor Society and the student council; and
WHEREAS, Emily Shane is a source of great pride to her fellow
students and to the citizens of Beeville, and her talent and
determination will undoubtedly continue to be great assets to her
in the future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Emily Shane on her selection to the
TMEA Women's All-State Choir and extend sincere best wishes for
continued success and achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Shane as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
