H.R. No. 249



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, J. L. Salinas was named superintendent of Edinburg 
Consolidated Independent School District on January 31, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, A native of Edinburg, Mr. Salinas graduated from 
Edinburg High School and The University of Texas-Pan American; 
after joining the Edinburg CISD in 1973 as a history and government 
teacher, he served as an administrator intern, director of student 
activities, assistant principal, principal, and assistant 
superintendent for district administration; he had been interim 
superintendent since the summer of 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Salinas brings to this position more than a 
quarter-century of experience in the field of education, and his 
leadership will undoubtedly prove vital in tackling the tough 
issues facing public education in today's world; and
	WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized J. 
L. Salinas by passing this resolution in his behalf during the 79th 
Legislature; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate J. L. Salinas on his selection as 
the new superintendent of Edinburg CISD and extend to him sincere 
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Salinas as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
