H.R. No. 252



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Charlie Ogilvie has deservedly been named Man of the 
Year by the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce; and
	WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created to honor West 
Columbia citizens who have greatly contributed to their community, 
and Mr. Ogilvie has proven himself to be one of the area's strongest 
assets; and
	WHEREAS, The residents of West Columbia are committed to 
preserving Brazoria County's rich history; to that end, Mr. Ogilvie 
plays a vital role in promoting the heritage of the region by 
volunteering at the Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site, 
appearing as a costumed interpreter at the Replica of the Capitol of 
Texas, and serving as a tour guide and lecturer for a host of 
historical sites in West Columbia; and
	WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Ogilvie volunteers at the Ammon 
Underwood House in East Columbia, serves as a historical 
interpreter at Austin Town, and works with his wife, Wilma, 
presenting historical reenactments to school and tour groups, 
introducing new generations of Texans to the important legacy of 
Brazoria County; and
	WHEREAS, This dedicated civic leader is a strong supporter of 
the Boy Scouts of America, a valued member of West Columbia 
Methodist Church, an active participant in the Rotary Club, and a 
distinguished employee of Brazoria County Emergency Management; 
and
	WHEREAS, Charlie Ogilvie's many significant endeavors have 
truly made him worthy of the special recognition bestowed on him by 
the West Columbia community, and his efforts are most appreciated; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Charlie Ogilvie on being named Man 
of the Year by the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce and commend him 
for his dedicated work in behalf of his community and state; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Ogilvie as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
