R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Youth Appreciation Week, sponsored by the South 
Central Texas District of Optimist International, honors young 
Texans for their achievements in the arts, sciences, humanities, 
and other areas of scholastic and civic distinction; and
	WHEREAS, The ceremonies, scheduled for April 3, 2005, involve 
the 18 Optimist Clubs that serve the Greater Capital Area district; 
and
	WHEREAS, High school students will be presented with awards 
for noteworthy performances in individual academic categories and 
outstanding accomplishments in sports, music, public service, and 
other extracurricular activities; and
	WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily 
endorses the efforts of the Optimist Clubs in encouraging area 
youth and fully supports the goals of Youth Appreciation Week; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby grant the South Central Texas District of 
Optimist International permission to use the house chamber, 
provided that the house is not in session and subject to house rules 
and policies of the Committee on House Administration, from 2 p.m. 
to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2005, for the purpose of holding an 
awards ceremony in connection with Youth Appreciation Week.
