R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments may help to console the family and friends of Mary Pilger Giles of Iola, who died on August 16, 2004, at the age of 42; and WHEREAS, Born in Houston on December 22, 1961, Mrs. Giles lived most of her life in Bryan; she ably served Texas A&M University for 17 exceptional years and was most recently employed as a business coordinator with the Center for Housing and Urban Development at the College of Architecture, where her exceptional performance and outgoing personality earned her many friends and admirers; and WHEREAS, The beloved wife of Lynn Giles, Mary Giles cherished her role as the mother of four precious children, and was an ever-present fixture at their school activities, offering her time and talents as a dedicated and tireless volunteer; she further benefited her community through her involvement in a host of organizations, including the Iola Lions Club, the Iola High School Band Club, and the Iola Volunteer Ambulance Service; moreover, she was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and taught religion education classes; and WHEREAS, While it is especially painful to say goodbye to one whose time here was far too brief, it is fitting to remember that Mary Giles had a profound impact on those around her, and her memory will long endure in the hearts of those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Mary Giles and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Lynn Giles; to her children, Casey, Amy, Lori, and Katie Giles; to her parents, Ed and Doris Pilger; to her brothers and their wives, Rick and Beverly Pilger and Adren and Susan Pilger; to her sisters and their husbands, Cynthia and John Hughes, Phyllis and Lee Fritsch, and Patricia and Lance Potts; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Pilger Giles.
