H.R. No. 305
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Otha and Veneda Brown of Brownfield marked a golden
milestone in their long and happy union when they celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2004, with a reception hosted
by their family at the Dal Paso Museum in Lamesa; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown married the former Veneda Young on June
18, 1954, in Lamesa, and over the years they have nurtured a strong
bond of love; their marriage has been blessed with four children,
Rhnea Jolley, Kalith Brown, Jalene Young, and Ed Martin, and they
have felt great pride as their family has grown to include six
granddaughters, six grandsons, and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of the Brownfield community, the
pair attend the Welch Church of Christ, where Mrs. Brown works two
days a week and Mr. Brown serves as an elder; in addition, they
enjoy traveling and antiquing and are active in the Big Spring
Antique Auto Club of America; and
WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have enjoyed
an enduring union that has enriched their lives and the lives of
their family and friends, and it is a pleasure to honor them at this
time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby heartily congratulate Otha and Veneda Brown on
their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
