R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for
rejoicing, and on May 6, 2004, Hank and Thelma Myers of Lamesa
marked this significant milestone in their long and happy marriage;
and
WHEREAS, Lifelong residents of Lamesa, Hank Myers and the
former Thelma Dennis were married on May 6, 1954; in the five
decades of their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Myers have watched their
family grow to include a daughter, Denise Phipps, her husband,
Nicky, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Nicole; a reception honoring
the couple was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Phipps and their children at
First Baptist Church on May 2, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Myers worked for A. G. Waugh and Lamesa Tire and
Battery before retiring after 15 years as advertising manager for
the Lamesa Press-Reporter; Mrs. Myers was employed by Lamesa
Federal Savings and Loan and Blue Bonnet Savings Bank before her
retirement in 1992 after 36 years; both Mr. and Mrs. Myers continue
to work part-time at Branon Funeral Home; and
WHEREAS, In further service to the community, Mr. Myers has
been a member of the Lamesa Kiwanis Club for 40 years, the West
Texas Girl Scout Board for 13 years, and affiliated with the Teen
Court program for 16 years; Mrs. Myers enjoys crafts, gardening,
and spending time with friends; she is a member of the Lamesa Church
of Christ, while her husband attends services at First Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS, The enduring union of Mr. and Mrs. Myers remains a
source of inspiration and joy to the family and friends with whom
they have shared the richness of their lives, and this devoted
couple is most deserving of warmest congratulations; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Hank and Thelma Myers on their 50th
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Myers as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
