R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Eddie and Cleta Hughes of Lamesa celebrated their 
50th wedding anniversary on January 11, 2004, with a special family 
dinner and reception hosted by their children; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Hughes and the former Cleta Wingo were joined in 
matrimony on January 12, 1954, in Hagerman, New Mexico; since that 
time, they have been blessed with three children, Brenda Whiteaker, 
Marsha Willmore, and Mike Hughes, and they have also welcomed seven 
beloved grandsons and one great-grandson into their family; and
	WHEREAS, After living in New Mexico for 20 years, Mr. and Mrs. 
Hughes relocated to Texas, where they have spent the past three 
decades; respected members of the Lamesa community and congregants 
of Second Baptist Church, Mr. Hughes has worked for area cotton gins 
throughout their marriage and Mrs. Hughes, who has been employed as 
a bus driver and a bank teller, is currently a devoted homemaker; 
and
	WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have 
nurtured and sustained a special bond, and their long and loving 
union is an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Eddie and Cleta Hughes on their 
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hughes as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
