R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Layton and Joyce Oliver of Lamesa marked their 50th 
wedding anniversary with a joyous family celebration at their home 
on Christmas Day 2003; and
	WHEREAS, Lifelong residents of Lamesa, Layton Oliver and the 
former Joyce Pearson were united in matrimony on December 24, 1953, 
in their hometown and together have raised three children, Teri 
Kent, Patricia Miller, and Sam Oliver; both retired, Mr. and Mrs. 
Oliver are delighted to spend their leisure time with their four 
grandchildren; they are also members of the First Baptist Church of 
Lamesa, and Mrs. Oliver is an avid reader and enthusiastic 
collector of old books; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver have nurtured a love and 
affection for each other that has lasted these past five decades; 
the constancy of their commitment and devotion stands as an 
inspiration to all who are privileged to know them; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Layton and Joyce Oliver on their 
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Oliver as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
