R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Richard E. "Dick" Mitchell and LaVera Mitchell of 
Big Spring commemorated their golden anniversary with a 
family-hosted reception on March 27, 2004, at the First United 
Methodist Church; and
	WHEREAS, In December 2002, daughter-in-law Tamara Mitchell 
treated the family to a Christmas cruise in honor of the Mitchells' 
50th anniversary as well as the 25th wedding anniversary of the 
couple's son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Pam Mitchell; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell and the former LaVera Thompson grew up 
as next-door neighbors and graduated from Lamesa High School; they 
pledged their love and lifelong commitment to each other on March 
19, 1954, at a ceremony held in Carlsbad, New Mexico; and
	WHEREAS, Devoted to their loving, close-knit family, the 
Mitchells are the parents of Ricky Mitchell and the late Rusty 
Mitchell and the grandparents of Christopher Mitchell, Michael 
Mitchell, Thekla Mitchell, and the late Aaron Mitchell; through the 
years, they have also enjoyed a rewarding relationship with their 
daughters-in-law, Pam and Tamara; and
	WHEREAS, Together, Dick and LaVera Mitchell have shared the 
trials and triumphs of half a century, and it is a distinct pleasure 
to join in honoring this milestone in their marriage; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Dick and LaVera Mitchell on their 
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
