H.R. No. 312
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Connally "Gib" Sherman and Sarah Sherman of Lamesa
marked a golden milestone in their long and happy union when they
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2004, with a
memorable Hawaiian luau; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sherman married the former Sarah Harkrider on
May 29, 1954, at the West Side Baptist Church in Lamesa; through the
years, they have nurtured a strong bond of love and their marriage
has been blessed with four children, Starlyn Garland, Susan Woods,
Chris Sherman, and Connie Wallace, and more recently, they have
felt great pride as their family has grown to include 14
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Currently enjoying retirement, these respected
members of the Lamesa community attend the Cornerstone Fellowship,
and Mrs. Sherman is an active volunteer with the Christian Women's
Job Corps; and
WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have enjoyed
an enduring union that has enriched their lives and the lives of
their family and friends, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor them
at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby heartily congratulate Connally "Gib" Sherman
and Sarah Sherman on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Sherman as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
