H.R. No. 315


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Bill Golden has greatly saddened all those who knew him, and we join his family and his many friends in mourning their loss; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Sanderson High School, Mr. Golden earned both his undergraduate degree and his M.B.A. from Sul Ross University, and he also served in the U.S. Navy as a communications technician; and WHEREAS, His talents in the field of telecommunications were put to good use in his civilian career with Big Bend Telephone Company, and he received the Texas Telephone Association's award for outstanding achievement in 1988 and served as president of the Texas Statewide Telephone Cooperative Association on two separate occasions; and WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Mr. Golden drew joy and inspiration from his relationship with his wife, Robie Golden, and their daughter, Traci, and from his fellow worshipers at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where he served as parish council president for a number of years; and WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community, Mr. Golden's counsel was often sought by his professional peers, and he served as a director for both First National Bank and West Texas National Bank; and WHEREAS, Although no words can assuage the sadness caused by the passing of a good friend, husband, and father, those who loved Bill Golden may take comfort in his lasting legacy of a life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Golden and extend sincere sympathy to his family: to his wife, Robie Golden; to his daughter, Traci, and her husband, Alonso Adame; to his mother, Ruby Golden; and to his siblings, Shirley Townsend and Sammy Golden; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill Golden.
