H.R. No. 319
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, October 20, 2003, was truly a special day for
Midland residents R. E. and Gladys Womack as they were the guests of
honor at a surprise dinner held in recognition of their 69th wedding
anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Womack, a retired banker, and the former Gladys
Gallaway were united in matrimony on October 20, 1934, at a ceremony
in Olton; the pair have since enjoyed a marriage filled with love,
trust, and mutual respect; and
WHEREAS, Throughout their long and happy union, the Womacks
have watched with pride as their family has grown to include two
children, Layce Mulkey and Joyce Adams, five grandchildren, and
seven great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Involved in their community, Mr. and Mrs. Womack are
members of First United Methodist Church and the West Side Lions
Club as well as charter members of the genealogical society; in
addition, Mrs. Womack belongs to the Midland Woman's Club; and
WHEREAS, After nearly seven decades together as husband and
wife, R. E. and Gladys Womack continue to serve as an inspiration to
the friends and family with whom they have shared the richness of
their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate R. E. and Gladys Womack on their
69th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, Than an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Womack as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
