R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for rejoicing, and on October 7, 2003, Jim and Jean Evans of Midland marked this significant milestone in their long and happy marriage; and WHEREAS, Mr. Evans and the former Glenda Jean Talley were married on October 7, 1953, by a family friend, Pastor Charles R. Gates, at the First United Methodist Church in Post; and WHEREAS, This couple have led active lives: Mr. Evans retired from Dowell as regional accounts manager in 1985 and served as a consultant until his retirement in 2003; Mrs. Evans retired from Continental Telephone Company in 1980 after serving as personnel supervisor; both Mr. and Mrs. Evans are members of Stonegate Fellowship in Midland; and WHEREAS, The Evanses celebrated their golden anniversary with family and friends at a dinner party hosted by their daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Steve Beggs and Lisa and Joe Don George, at the Grasslands Estates Clubhouse; also hosting the festivities were the couple's grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy George, Jeff and Laura George, Melissa, Laura, and Alex Beggs, and Carrie and John Montgomery; the extended Evans family also includes five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, The enduring union of Jim and Jean Evans remains a source of inspiration and joy to the family and friends with whom they have shared the richness of their lives, and this beloved pair are most deserving of warmest congratulations; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jim and Jean Evans on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Evans as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
