R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Davis and Mary Nan Payne of Midland celebrated their 
50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at a reception on 
April 3, 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Payne and the former Mary Nan Ratliff met while 
working at the Western Company and were united in matrimony on April 
3, 1954, at the First Methodist Church in Odessa; they continue to 
work together today as the owners of their own oil company, Polaris 
Production Corporation; over the years, they have felt great pride 
as their family has grown to include two children, Nancy Stacks and 
Garry Payne, as well as their beloved grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Decorations at their anniversary celebration at the 
Petroleum Club made use of treasured keepsakes from their wedding 
as well as family heirlooms from both Mr. and Mrs. Payne's 
relatives; guests from throughout the state and from Louisiana and 
California attended the noteworthy event, which included the 
presentation of a memory book to the honored couple; and
	WHEREAS, With this special gift, the Paynes can reflect with 
joy on the five decades that they have shared, treasuring the many 
bright moments of their lives together; for half a century, this 
couple has nurtured an unwavering devotion and commitment that 
continues to be an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Davis and Mary Nan Payne on their 
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Payne as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
