                                                                  H.R. No. 341



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary is truly cause for 
rejoicing, and Gary and Jan Owen of Midland marked this momentous 
milestone in their long and happy marriage on June 6, 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Owen and the former Janiece Harris were married 
on June 6, 1954, at Asbury Methodist Church in Lubbock; they moved 
to Midland in 1958 after graduating from Texas Tech University; and
	WHEREAS, This devoted couple are the proud parents of two 
children, Linda Kidwell and Chuck Owen, and they have welcomed with 
delight four cherished grandchildren into their family; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Owen is retired from Great Western Drilling and 
Mrs. Owen is a homemaker; over the years, both have given generously 
of their time and talents to the community; Mr. Owen has been 
involved with the Jaycees, Downtown Lions Club, and Little League, 
while Mrs. Owen has worked with the Children's Service League and 
currently volunteers with HospiceMidland; and
	WHEREAS, These admirable citizens are also valued 
congregants of First Baptist Church, where Mr. Owen serves as a 
deacon; and
	WHEREAS, To celebrate their golden anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. 
Owen planned a cruise to Alaska; and
	WHEREAS, For five decades, Gary and Jan Owen have enjoyed a 
relationship founded on love, trust, and mutual respect, and their 
marriage remains a source of inspiration and joy to all who have 
shared in the richness of their lives; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Gary and Jan Owen on the occasion of their 
50th anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Owen as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
