R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary is truly cause for 
rejoicing, and on September 12, 2003, Willie C. and Jewel I. 
Murphree of Midland marked this momentous milestone in their long 
and happy union; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Murphree and the former Jewel Hobbs were married 
on September 12, 1953, in Vera; they lived in Jal, New Mexico, and 
in Fort Stockton before moving to Midland; and
	WHEREAS, Over the years, their close-knit family has grown to 
include two children, Shanna Orcutt and Rick Murphree, and six 
grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Murphree worked for El Paso Natural Gas and then 
owned Cath-Anode until his retirement; Mrs. Murphree remains a 
devoted homemaker; respected members of their community, they are 
both members of the Baptist church; and
	WHEREAS, Family and friends joined the Murphrees in 
celebrating their golden anniversary at a reception held in the 
home of their daughter in Midland; and
	WHEREAS, The enduring marriage of Willie and Jewel Murphree 
remains a source of joy and inspiration to the friends and family 
with whom they have shared the bountiful richness of their lives; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Willie and Jewel Murphree on their 
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Murphree as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
