R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Evetts Haley, Jr., and Frances Haley of Midland greeted their 50th wedding anniversary with a happy celebration hosted by their children and attended by more than 100 family members and friends on March 19, 2004; and WHEREAS, Mr. Haley and the former Frances Shaller were married on March 20, 1954, at the First Presbyterian Church in Canadian; for nearly three decades, they lived in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, before moving to Midland in 1983; their longtime union has been blessed with four children, and in recent years, they have watched their family grow to include 13 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Throughout their life together, the Haleys have made their livelihood in cattle raising and ranching; both are members of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Panhandle Livestock Association, and the Texas Farm Bureau; and WHEREAS, Proud of their heritage, they are also active in organizations that honor their forebears; Mr. Haley is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Sons of the American Revolution, and Sons of the Republic of Texas, and Mrs. Haley is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and United Daughters of the Confederacy; and WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Haley belongs to the Society of the Order of the Southern Cross, and Mrs. Haley is an active member of the Midland County Republican Women; they both enjoy the fellowship of Grace Lutheran Church; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Haley have reached a significant milestone in their life together; for half a century, they have enriched each other's lives with their enduring love, creating many happy memories and inspiring their family and friends with their unwavering mutual devotion; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to Frances Haley and Evetts Haley, Jr., on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Haleys as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
