H.R. No. 358



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, After 50 years of service in the banking community, 
Mildred Castell of Marshall retired from Bancorp South on January 
21, 2005, and the following day she and her husband, Harvey Castell, 
celebrated her retirement as well as their 57th wedding 
anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Castell were married on January 22, 
1948, and six years later they moved from Arkansas to Marshall; that 
same year, 1954, Mrs. Castell began a 40-year tenure at First 
National Bank, now known as Hibernia National Bank; she worked as an 
assistant vice president of Bancorp South for the past 10 years; and
	WHEREAS, Always actively involved in her community, Mrs. 
Castell served as chair of the education committee for the chamber 
of commerce, and she worked with other civic leaders to establish a 
branch of Texas State Technical College in Marshall; she also 
served as president of the East Texas group of the National 
Association of Bank Women and was awarded the group's first 
scholarship to attend the School of Bank Marketing at the 
University of Colorado; in 1995, she received the Working Woman of 
the Year Award from the Marshall Business and Professional Women's 
Club; and
	WHEREAS, Retirement from five decades in banking will mark a 
new chapter for Mildred Castell, but she will undoubtedly remain as 
active as ever; supported by her loving husband, she intends to 
catch up on several household projects and spend more time baking 
for her numerous friends; with many fond memories of the people she 
has met over the years, she will no doubt be missed by her 
colleagues and the many loyal customers who have so enjoyed her 
humor and warm-hearted generosity; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Mildred Castell on her outstanding 
tenure in the banking industry and congratulate Mrs. Castell and 
her husband, Harvey, on their 57th wedding anniversary; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Castell as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
