R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Reverend Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., is celebrating
his 20th anniversary as pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist
Church in Corsicana, and this auspicious milestone is cause for
reflection on this talented Texan's many accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Corsicana High School and Navarro
College, Reverend Johnson received his theological training at a
number of institutions, including the Southern Bible Institute and
Guadalupe Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of two decades as senior pastor of
Bethlehem Missionary Baptist, Reverend Johnson has distinguished
himself as a sage advisor, an able administrator, and a gifted
spiritual leader; and
WHEREAS, His contributions to the community extend far beyond
the walls of his beloved church, and he has given generously of his
time and talents to such worthwhile organizations as the NAACP, the
Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, the Navarro County
Health Board, the Martin Luther King Center, and the American Red
Cross; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Reverend Johnson has drawn
strength and sustenance from his loving and close-knit family,
including his wife of more than three decades, Ellender Pearl
McDonald Johnson, and his children, Tiffany Diane Johnson, Dairy
Johnson, Jr., and Elizabeth R. Johnson; and
WHEREAS, His immediate family is joined by the many members
of his extended family and numerous friends in joyous celebration
of his tenure at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, and we join
them in paying tribute to this remarkable individual; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., on
celebrating 20 years as pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist
Church in Corsicana and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Pastor Johnson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
