R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal
Nazario Serrano of Irving suffered an immeasurable loss with the
death of this beloved young man on January 30, 2005, at the age of
20; and
WHEREAS, After joining the Marines in 2003, Corporal Serrano
was assigned to the Combat Service Support Battalion 1, Combat
Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, 1st
Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Pendleton, California; he
volunteered for duty in Iraq five months ago, and was killed in
combat in Al Anbar Province; and
WHEREAS, This brave and valiant Texan was born on January 9,
1985, in Dallas, and graduated from Irving High School in 2003; a
car and motorcycle enthusiast, he worked at a local barber shop
before heroically committing to serve his country; for his ultimate
sacrifice in Iraq, he was recommended to posthumously receive the
Purple Heart; and
WHEREAS, Nazario Serrano's energetic and optimistic
personality endeared him to his family and friends, and his bravery
inspired a community; through his unwavering dedication to duty and
honor, Nazario Serrano embodied the highest ideals of the armed
services, and the memory of his love and friendship will always be
treasured by those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of U.S. Marine
Lance Corporal Nazario Serrano and extend deepest sympathy to the
members of his family: to his parents, Jose de Jesus Serrano and
Maria Arrellano; to his son, Landon Heath Serrano; to his fiancée,
Amanda Story; to his brothers, Javier, Jesus, and Daniel Serrano;
to his grandmother, Seleste Diaz Serrano; to his grandfather,
Bonifacio Arrellano; and to his other relatives and many friends;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Marine
Lance Corporal Nazario Serrano.
