R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Wally and Barbara Bircher of Houston marked a golden 
milestone in their long and happy union when they celebrated their 
50th wedding anniversary on February 12, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, This devoted couple were joined in matrimony on 
February 12, 1955, in their hometown of New Orleans; through the 
years, they have nurtured a strong bond of love, and their marriage 
has been blessed with five children and three granddaughters; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Bircher had a distinguished 35-year career with 
the IBM Corporation before his retirement; over the years, he has 
volunteered with Houston's Northwest YMCA, Black Junior High 
School, Waltrip High School, and St. Rose of Lima Church; a tutor at 
local schools as well, he works with students in Klein ISD, Houston 
ISD, and St. Rose School, providing training in computer 
operations; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Bircher is a homemaker whose children benefited 
from her love and support and the time she spent volunteering as a 
room mother, softball coach, and concessionaire at the Northwest 
YMCA; and
	WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Bircher have shared a rich 
and rewarding marriage, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring 
their enduring union; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Wally and Barbara Bircher on their 50th 
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bircher as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
