R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jack and James Bradford have been honored by the mayor of Alice with the mayor's humanitarian award in recognition of their extensive service to the community, and this honor is an apt occasion to reflect on the many accomplishments of these talented Texans; and WHEREAS, Veterans who served with the United States Army Security Agency, the Bradfords both received the Army Commendation Medal, and after their enlistment returned to Texas, where they embarked on their successful careers as auto dealers; and WHEREAS, Their commercial acumen is rivaled only by their dedication to serving their community, and they have lent the prestige of the Bradford Motor Cars name to a number of worthwhile causes, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Girl Scouts of America, the Boy Scouts of America, the Campfire Girls, the American and National Little Leagues, and the March of Dimes; and WHEREAS, James Bradford has given generously of his time and talent to the community, serving as chairman of the Boy Scouts South Texas Council and the Eagle Board of Review as well as on the boards of the Edna Gladney Home for Children and the Spohn Hospital Alice, which he also chaired; and WHEREAS, Similarly, Jack Bradford has lent his considerable stature to a number of worthwhile organizations and institutions, chairing the Chamber of Commerce and serving as president of the Master Planners Foundation and as a director of the Alice Industrial Foundation and the First Community Bank, and as a vice chairman and director of Alice Regional Hospital; and WHEREAS, Jack and James Bradford have distinguished themselves as astute businessmen, valued pillars of the community, and compassionate contributors to the greater good, and it is indeed fitting that they be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and James Bradford on receiving the Alice mayor's humanitarian award and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future.
