R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Murtie Carnes Petty on September 19,
2004, at the age of 85 is cause for both sadness and reflection in
remembering her special life; and
WHEREAS, A native of Mississippi, Mrs. Petty first moved to
Texas in 1955, becoming a Baytown resident in 1981 after her
marriage to L. A. Petty; and
WHEREAS, She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed both
by her former colleagues at the insurance agencies where she worked
as an office administrator and by the community of faith at St.
Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a vital and valued
member; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Petty's other interests included gardening and
doll collecting, and the range of her enthusiasms vividly
underscores the loss to her friends and family; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Murtie Carnes Petty
and extend to her family sincere sympathy: to her son and
daughter-in-law, D. Spencer and Joy Carnes; to her grandchildren,
Morgan and Kristin Myers and Brett Myers; to her
great-grandchildren, Madison and Kaylee Myers; and to her siblings
and their spouses, Marvin and Louolla Craft, Milton and Montee
Craft, and Willie and Bill Eaton; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Murtie
Carnes Petty.
