R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable William R. Stump, Sr.,
of Georgetown on December 31, 2004, at the age of 93, has brought a
great loss to the family and friends of this esteemed man; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Georgetown, Mr. Stump served
Williamson County as state representative from 1947 to 1953; he was
an attorney in private practice from the time he was admitted to the
state bar in 1939 until his retirement in 2002; and
WHEREAS, He served in the United States Air Force during
World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #174 for
over 55 years; a charter member of the Georgetown noon Rotary Club,
he served as its president and was a Paul Harris fellow; he was also
a lifelong member of Georgetown's First Presbyterian Church and
served as trustee, elder, and elder emeritus; and
WHEREAS, Bill Stump lived a full and productive life, and
although he will be deeply missed, his memory will long be cherished
by those who were privileged to share his love and friendship; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William R. Stump, Sr.,
and that deepest sympathy be extended to the members of his family:
to his wife, Gene Stump; to his sons, Bill Stump, Jr., and his wife,
Bonnie, and Randy Stump and his wife, Donna; and to his
grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Jeffrey, Wren, John, and Luke
Stump; and to the other relatives and many friends of this esteemed
man; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the
Honorable William R. Stump, Sr.
