R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The MacArthur Academy of Creative Education (MACE)
at Douglas MacArthur High School is helping San Antonio students
remain in school and achieve their full academic potential; and
WHEREAS, MACE targets underclassmen who have lost credit in
core classes and are at risk of dropping out of school and affords
them the opportunity to regain credit at an accelerated pace in a
nontraditional setting; and
WHEREAS, With a unique curriculum that employs technology,
field and laboratory experiences, as well as community service
projects, the program features a core group of caring educators;
the MACE team consists of an English teacher, a math teacher, a
science teacher, and a counselor, who are on-site to provide
students with academic support and encouragement; and
WHEREAS, The efforts of the faculty and administrators
involved with MACE are helping students onto the path to success,
and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize their outstanding work and
achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the MacArthur Academy of Creative
Education at Douglas MacArthur High School for its innovative
approach to teaching and commend all those associated with the
program for their commitment to the youth of their community; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
