H.R. No. 393
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Carolina Ramos, El Paso State Parks Complex manager
for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and a longtime resident
of the El Paso area, has won widespread appreciation and respect for
her many years of outstanding public service; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Ramos joined the staff of the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department in 1977 as a law division enforcement clerk and
was later transferred to Monahans Sandhills State Park, where she
served as a clerk and later as a park ranger; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Ms. Ramos was transferred to Franklin
Mountains State Park in El Paso; the commitment and professionalism
she demonstrated proved her capable of great responsibility, and in
1991 she was promoted to the position of park manager; among her
many accomplishments in this role, Ms. Ramos was instrumental in
compiling the Franklin Mountains State Park Plan and overseeing its
initial implementation; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, this esteemed
professional established a working relationship with a host of
political and civic organizations in the El Paso area, and she
advocated and implemented the use of volunteers in the state parks
program; additionally, she was appointed by the City of El Paso to
the El Paso Mountain Committee; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Ms. Ramos assumed the position of El Paso
State Parks Complex manager, overseeing the operation of Franklin
Mountains State Park, Hueco Tanks State Historic Site, and Magoffin
Home State Historic Site; the development and dedication of the
Wyler Aerial Tramway in 1997 brought additional responsibilities
and challenges; and
WHEREAS, Thanks in great part to her efforts, the El Paso
State Parks Complex was honored at the Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department's 2001 Employee Recognition Awards Program in the
Outstanding Team category; she has also helped to establish Lone
Star Legacy Endowment accounts for each of the four parks; and
WHEREAS, Carolina Ramos has played an important part in the
preservation and interpretation of the heritage of the Lone Star
State, and her contributions will continue to enrich the lives of
Texas residents for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Carolina Ramos on her professional and
civic accomplishments and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
