R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for
celebration, and on January 2, 2005, John and Melba Webb of Stanton
celebrated this special anniversary with a reception in the company
of their family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Webb and the former Melba West were married at
the First Baptist Church in Ackerly, on December 27, 1954; over the
five decades of their marriage, the couple have been blessed with a
cherished family that includes two children, Debbie Moore and Steve
Webb, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Webb retired from John Deere and Company in 1989
after 30 years; his civic involvement includes the Old Sorehead
Trade Days Committee and the Martin County Chamber of Commerce; a
dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, Mrs. Webb is a member
of the Stanton EE Club, and the couple attend First Baptist Church
in Stanton; and
WHEREAS, The enduring union of John and Melba Webb remains a
source of inspiration and joy to all with whom they have shared
their lives, and this devoted couple are most deserving of
heartfelt congratulations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby warmly congratulate John and Melba Webb on the
joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Webbs as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
