                                                                  H.R. No. 403


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jack and Ida Paxton of Midland marked a special milestone in their lives on December 11, 2004, when they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, United in matrimony on December 11, 1944, in Oakland, California, Mr. and Mrs. Paxton have been blessed with two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra and Mike Combs and Lisa Kinsey; moreover, they have shared in the joy of having one granddaughter, Miranda; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Paxton moved to Midland in July 1959 after living in Arizona and New Mexico, where Mr. Paxton worked in road construction; during World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy Construction Force, known as the Seabees, building access roads and landing strips on islands in the Pacific Theater; Mr. Paxton owned a welding and repair shop until his retirement in 1981, and Mrs. Paxton retired from Centrilift Hughes in the mid-1990s; and WHEREAS, For more than half a century, this devoted couple have nurtured a strong bond of love, filling each other's lives with many happy times and cherished family memories, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Ida Paxton on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Paxton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
