R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends deeply mourn the tragic passing of U.S. Marine Cristobal Cano of Clint on November 3, 2004, at the age of 18, and seek to still the pain of loss by remembering his strength, courage, and love; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of El Paso County, Mr. Cano was born on May 31, 1986; he was a member of the Catholic Church and attended Clint High School, where he was a valued member of the Junior ROTC and varsity football programs; and WHEREAS, This courageous young man had recently fulfilled a long-held dream to become a Marine, and he was preparing to assume active duty in September 2005; smart, talented, and witty, Mr. Cano was also admired for his enthusiasm and kindness toward others; and WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say good-bye to one so young and full of promise, the many people whose lives were touched by Cristobal Cano will long cherish his memory; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of U.S. Marine Cristobal Cano and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his father, Leo Cano; to his mother, Frances Hernandez; to his brothers, Ernesto and Leo; to his sister, Tina; to his grandmother, Julieta Valenzuela; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cristobal Cano.
