R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, After retiring from a successful career in human
resources, Barbara J. Miller of Dallas has applied her energy and
skills to effectively serve the members of her community; and
WHEREAS, Nationally certified by the Society for Human
Resources Management as a senior professional in human resources,
Ms. Miller retired in 2000 as a human resources director; and
WHEREAS, When a zoning situation threatened her community,
Ms. Miller took up the banner of activism and reactivated the
Caillet Crime Watch, renaming it Webb Royal Neighborhood Watch; as
its chairperson for the past four years, she has overseen an
increase in membership, more coordinated efforts with local law
enforcement, and a reduction in crime; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Miller, who has been active in crime watch for 14
years, became a Volunteers In Patrol member in 2000 and continues to
participate in monthly patrols; in 2004, she was recognized for her
tireless efforts and commitment with a Special Recognition award
from the City of Dallas and with her selection as Crime Watch
Chairperson of the Month for July 2004; and
WHEREAS, Currently representing the northwest division on
the Crime Watch Executive Board, Ms. Miller continues her service
by encouraging crime watch development throughout the Dallas area,
and she indeed deserves special commendation for her valuable work
in behalf of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Barbara J. Miller for her service to the
community and commend her for her dedicated efforts with crime
watch; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
