H.R. No. 453



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Friend and colleague Dan Flynn celebrates his 
birthday on February 21, 2005, a proud moment for a man who isn't 
getting any younger; and
	WHEREAS, A native Austinite, "Dan from Van" is the state 
representative from District 2, which includes Hunt, Van Zandt, and 
Rains Counties; he is the vice chair of the Committee on Pensions &
Investments and also serves on the House Committees on Financial 
Institutions and General Investigating & Ethics; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed businessman and rancher is a cowboy 
through and through, as evidenced by his well-worn and ever-present 
boots; in fact, the only other footwear that staff members have ever 
seen him don are the fuzzy slippers that he wears around his office; 
and
	WHEREAS, Dan has held several prominent posts during his 
career, including county judge of Van Zandt County and deputy 
banking commissioner for the State of Texas; although he has left 
his former occupation as the owner of a funeral home behind, to this 
day he'll only eat ice cream from Marble Slab; and
	WHEREAS, A one-time staffer for former state representative, 
now Congressman Kenny Marchant, Dan is in the midst of his second 
legislative session, and despite his relatively brief tenure in 
office, he has already made a strong impression on the governor as 
one-half of "The Dan and Bill Show," along with his colleague and 
Austin roommate, Bill Zedler; and
	WHEREAS, Dan possesses an unnatural aversion to missing phone 
calls--in fact, he even has a phone in his bathroom back home; for 
this reason, he seems like an obvious candidate for a cellular chip 
implant; perhaps then, family members will no longer have to 
witness him risking bodily harm by diving over furniture to 
intercept phone calls; and
	WHEREAS, Funny, kind, and generous are just a few of the 
adjectives used to describe this devoted husband and father of 
three; he is a model legislator, whose hard work has earned him the 
respect of his fellow representatives, and it is a pleasure to honor 
him on his birthday; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Dan Flynn on the occasion of his 
birthday and extend best wishes to him for a memorable celebration; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Representative Flynn as an expression of high regard 
by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
