H.R. No. 462


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas is widely known for its musical talent, and Heriberto "Herbie" Lopez is an accomplished heir to this proud tradition; and WHEREAS, A resident of Weslaco, Mr. Lopez plays accordion with the popular band El Conjunto Bernal, and his artistry on this venerable instrument has won the admiration of music lovers from every walk of life; and WHEREAS, The high esteem in which he is held by his fellow musicians was most recently expressed in his selection as a member of the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame Class of 2004 Million Dollar Band, and his presence greatly enhances this all-star lineup of outstanding entertainers; and WHEREAS, The Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame was organized to honor the pioneers and legends of Tejano music, to preserve the Tejano musical heritage, and, through its museum in Alice, to provide a central location for compiling the stories and memorabilia associated with Tejano musicians; and WHEREAS, Those gifted individuals who dedicate their lives to music are an indispensable asset to the Lone Star State and are truly deserving of the respect and gratitude of their fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Heriberto "Herbie" Lopez on being named a member of the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame Class of 2004 Million Dollar Band and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
