R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, U.S. Marine Reservist Octaviano Suarez, Jr., of Premont has returned stateside from Iraq after sustaining injuries on January 13, 2005, in Ramadi, and this brave and dedicated soldier holds the respect and admiration of all who know him for his exemplary service to his country; and WHEREAS, A member of Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marines, based in Corpus Christi, Reservist Suarez was injured when a roadside bomb destroyed the Humvee in which he was riding; and WHEREAS, Reservist Suarez, a vibrant 22-year-old, joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 2001; before his deployment, he worked as a Jim Wells County sheriff's deputy from January through April 2004; and WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to Reservist Suarez and to all of the country's military personnel, for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens, and they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure; and WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and this nation, Octaviano Suarez, Jr., embodies the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to join in welcoming him home; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend U.S. Marine Reservist Octaviano Suarez, Jr., for his service in Iraq and extend to him best wishes for a swift and complete recovery from his injuries; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reservist Suarez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
