H.R. No. 468
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times, loving
moments, and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and
friends of Alma Frieda Shannon of Waco, who died on January 21,
2005, at the age of 95; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Shannon was born on October 28, 1909, in
Wichita County; she married John L. Shannon on March 11, 1935, in
Hannibal, Missouri, and together they shared 61 happy years before
his passing in 1996; and
WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, she supported her husband
in all his endeavors and nurtured and sustained her son,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with loving care, insight,
and wisdom; recognized for her enduring faith and strength of
character, Mrs. Shannon was also known as an animal lover who had
many cherished pets; and
WHEREAS, This warm and gracious woman was a blessing in the
lives of countless individuals, and although she will be dearly
missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those whose
lives she touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alma Frieda Shannon
and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
son, James R. "Jim" Shannon; to her former daughter-in-law, Dianne
Shannon; to her grandchildren, John E. Shannon and his wife, Pauli,
Terri Duncan and her husband, Davis, and Ashlee Campbell and her
husband, Justin; to her great-grandchildren, Leah and Cory Shannon
and Justin, Shannon, and Joshua Duncan; and to her other relatives
and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alma Frieda
Shannon.
