R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The death of Michael Tatar in Iraq on November 12, 2004, is a painful loss not only to his family and friends but also to the many people here and abroad whose lives he touched; and WHEREAS, An accomplished lawman, Mr. Tatar had extensive experience with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, achieving the rank of captain and serving at various times as a SWAT team leader; and WHEREAS, Determined to put his skills to work in behalf of the greater good, Mr. Tatar went to work with a private U.S. company charged with the training of the newly created Iraqi police force; and WHEREAS, Well aware of the danger inherent in such an enterprise, Mr. Tatar nevertheless believed strongly in his responsibility to offer his aid, and his untimely passing is a sobering reminder of the human cost of war to soldier and civilian alike; and WHEREAS, Although he is mourned by his fellow Texans, the inspiring example of his courage will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mike Tatar and extend sincere sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael Tatar.
