R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The residents of Lake Jackson lost a beloved friend,
neighbor, and coworker with the passing of Captain Bill Reynaga on
June 4, 2003; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire
Department, Captain Reynaga continually worked to protect the lives
and property of the people in his community; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure in the department, he served as a
basic medic, a Level II instructor, and an intermediate firefighter
before rising to the position of captain of the department; this
former marine also trained many local firefighters; and
WHEREAS, Captain Reynaga was well respected by his coworkers
for his fairness and his emphasis on safety at both the fire
department and in his job in the petrochemical industry; and
WHEREAS, During his year-long battle with cancer, Bill
Reynaga's unfaltering optimism served as an inspiration to those
around him; a man of indefatigable strength and bravery, he was
equally compassionate and caring and set an example for us all; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Captain Bill
Reynaga and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
his wife, Sharla; to his daughters, Erica Reynaga and Stephanie
Michelle Skalak; to his stepsons, James and Jason Ringo and their
wives; to his mother, Billie Jean Reynaga; to his sisters, Juanita
Jahn, Maria Reynaga, and Emily Larkin; and to his other relatives
and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain
Bill Reynaga.
