R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for a celebration, and on June 18, 2005, Billy and Ottalie "Dootsie" Richardson of Angleton are marking this significant milestone in their marriage; and WHEREAS, These Velasco High School sweethearts pledged their mutual love and support in a ceremony held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson was employed as a secretary with Dow Chemical company until the birth of the couple's first child in 1958; this devoted wife and mother places a priority on providing a happy home for her family, while also including time for activities with Holy Trinity Church, a Bible study fellowship, the Angleton Study Club, and several bridge clubs; and WHEREAS, Following his high school graduation, Mr. Richardson embarked on a newspaper career with the Brazosport Facts as its sports editor; he went on to serve his country with distinction as a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Korea, and in 1966, he bought Times Printers and Stationers; he has contributed greatly to his community through his participation with the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and United Way; and WHEREAS, Proud of their Texas and American heritage, Mr. and Mrs. Richardson delight in traveling throughout the nation with their family and following Houston sports teams and the Texas Longhorns, and it is a pleasure to honor this esteemed couple at this special time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Billy and Ottalie Richardson of Angleton on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Richardsons as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
