H.R. No. 491
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, William Folse of Angleton has shown exceptional
compassion and selflessness by participating in the National Marrow
Donor Program and saving the life of a 13-year-old stranger; and
WHEREAS, After becoming aware of the need for donors when he
lost his father to cancer, Mr. Folse signed up to become a bone
marrow donor; later notified that he was a perfect match for Collin
McClure of Pennsylvania, who suffered from the life-threatening
disease aplastic anemia, Mr. Folse did not hesitate to undergo the
medical procedure that would draw bone marrow from his hips to save
the life of this very ill young man; and
WHEREAS, Through Mr. Folse's remarkable kindness and
generosity, Collin McClure is now in remission and no longer needs
to undergo chemotherapy and weekly blood transfusions; through his
actions, William Folse has set a moving example of the important
work that the National Marrow Donor Program performs and the
lifesaving results that can come from bone marrow transplants; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor William Folse for his extraordinary gift
to Collin McClure and his willingness to go above and beyond to help
his fellowman; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Folse as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
