R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Kathy Burke of Irving celebrated a special milestone 
in her life on February 8, 2005, her 60th birthday, and that 
noteworthy occasion offered a fitting opportunity to reflect on her 
many contributions to her community; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Burke is the president and owner of Above &
Beyond Incentives, a distributor of promotional products, which has 
won seven international awards for creativity and program 
implementation; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed businesswoman is also a dedicated 
community leader as evidenced by her work in behalf of the city of 
Irving, where she has resided for the past 26 years; a former chair 
of the Irving Chamber of Commerce, she is currently vice president 
of the chamber's public affairs division; she has also served as 
director of the Irving Economic Development Foundation Board, 
president of the Irving Unit Board of Directors for the American 
Cancer Society, media chair of the Governor's Commission on Women 
in Texas Dinner, and corporate underwriting chair of the Irving 
Healthcare System; moreover, she was a member of the Salvation Army 
Irving advisory board and was appointed by the mayor to serve on the 
Irving Centennial Task Force and the Irving Arts Board; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Burke has received numerous civic awards, 
including the Ambassador of the Year Award from the Irving Chamber 
of Commerce, the Business Owner of the Year Award, and the Irving 
Police Department Carol Award; and
	WHEREAS, Supported by her loving husband and five children, 
Mrs. Burke is truly an inspiration to her fellow citizens of Irving, 
and it is a pleasure to honor her accomplishments; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Kathy Burke on her 60th birthday 
and commend her for her unwavering commitment to her community; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Burke as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
