R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On February 24, 2005, Pastor William Emory Anderson,
Jr., of Euless is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Anderson is the president of Covenant
Christian Academy in Colleyville and the interim pastor at First
Baptist Church in Euless, a church in which he had served from 1966
to 1975 before leaving to spend 25 years at Calvary Baptist Church
in Clearwater, Florida; and
WHEREAS, A native of Humble, Pastor Anderson attended Refugio
High School and earned his undergraduate degree in religion from
Baylor University; he received his bachelor of divinity degree from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was awarded a doctor
of divinity degree from Trinity College in Dunedin, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Anderson has demonstrated excellence in
leadership roles on the local, state, and national levels, serving
as president of the Florida Baptist Convention, as chairman of the
Sunday School Board, as a board member for the Christian Television
Network, and as vice chairman of the Southern Baptist Convention
Executive Committee, among many other important positions; he was
vice chairman of two Billy Graham Crusades in Tampa, Florida, and is
a recipient of the Euless Outstanding Citizen Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his years of devoted religious and civic
service, Pastor Anderson has enjoyed the love and support of his
wife, Addie, and his children, Mark, Karen, Gaye, and Hazel; he
continues to inspire family and friends alike with his message of
faith, hope, and love, and we are most fortunate to have him with us
today; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby express its sincere appreciation to Pastor
William Emory Anderson, Jr., for his service as Pastor of the Day
for this chamber and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued
success and fulfillment in his ministry; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Pastor Anderson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
