R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Yolanda DeLeon, the outgoing county and district
attorney of Cameron County, is most deserving of special
recognition for her achievements during her outstanding eight-year
term in those positions; and
WHEREAS, Because of Cameron County's proximity to Mexico, the
county and district attorney's office is often called upon to deal
with issues that transcend national borders, and time and again Ms.
DeLeon proved herself equal to the task of prosecuting complex
cases with international ramifications; and
WHEREAS, Highly esteemed by her professional peers, Ms.
DeLeon lent her extensive experience to the Southwest Border High
Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Executive Board, serving as both
chairperson and vice chair of the group's South Texas Executive
Committee, and her integrity and diligence were reflected in her
evenhanded exercise of her office's power; and
WHEREAS, Those Texans who dedicate themselves to the public
good are truly deserving of the gratitude of their fellow citizens,
and Yolanda DeLeon is without question a member of this elite group;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Yolanda DeLeon for her service as county
and district attorney of Cameron County and hereby extend to her
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. DeLeon as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
