R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts-Lone Star Council of Central Texas is celebrating the dedication of the Jeff and Gail Kodosky Program Center in Austin on February 25, 2005; and WHEREAS, Covering more than 22,000 square feet, this impressive new facility is nearly four times the size of the former service center and features a technology center with desktop computers, a multipurpose area for expanded programs, an area for volunteer meetings and training, a resource room, and a larger Girl Scout Shop; and WHEREAS, The construction of the program center was made possible through the S.T.R.O.N.G. (Smart, Tough, Real, Out there, Now, Girl Scouts) Capital Campaign, which sought to provide expanded services for the more than 22,000 girl and adult members of the organization; and WHEREAS, Now in its 92nd year, Girl Scouts of the USA cultivates values, social conscience, and self-esteem in girls ages 5 to 17, while teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults; by serving more Girl Scouts and allowing them access to enhanced resources, the new Kodosky Program Center will help the Lone Star Council make important contributions to the lives of young Texans for generations to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the Jeff and Gail Kodosky Program Center in Austin and extend sincere best wishes to all those involved for a memorable celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Girl Scouts-Lone Star Council as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
