R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may temper the profound sadness that the passing of Paul Kornfuehrer of Victoria on January 23, 2005, brings to his family and friends; and WHEREAS, Born on November 14, 1944, in Cuero, Mr. Kornfuehrer graduated from Victoria High School and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Texas A&M University; after college, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army for two years and later worked as a bank examiner in Corpus Christi, before moving back to Victoria; and WHEREAS, A banker for many years, he distinguished himself as senior vice president and advisory director of Citizens National Bank before entering into private business; he was a sales representative for Physician Sales and Service at the time of his death; and WHEREAS, This successful businessman believed in giving back to his community; he served as a board member of the Victoria Independent School District in the 1990s and as a deacon and elder for First Presbyterian Church; he was also active in Junior Achievement, Victoria Youth Home, Boys' Club of Victoria, and United Way; and WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Kornfuehrer loved hunting, fishing, and kayaking on the Comal River, and he was also an accomplished cook and enjoyed making tamales and sausage with his friends; his quick wit and generous heart endeared this devoted Aggie fan to all who were fortunate to know him; and WHEREAS, Paul Kornfuehrer truly made a positive difference in his community; although he will be dearly missed by his friends and family, his strength, integrity, and delightful sense of humor will long be remembered with love and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Paul Kornfuehrer and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his wife of 33 years, Susan Barbee Kornfuehrer; to his sons, U.S. Marine Captain Paul Douglas Kornfuehrer and U.S. Marine Second Lieutenant Eric Russell Kornfuehrer; to his sister, Cora Webb Hartman, her husband, Fred, and their daughters, Linda and Heather; and to the other relatives and many friends of this much-loved Texan; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Paul Kornfuehrer.
