R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the Young Conservatives of Texas on the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary; and WHEREAS, A group of 177 students met in Austin on Texas Independence Day, March 2, 1980, to establish the Young Conservatives of Texas; the organization was founded to attract individuals from the mainstream who believe in a conservative form of government; and WHEREAS, Now a strong force on college campuses throughout the state, the Young Conservatives of Texas regularly hosts speakers on a wide array of topics, ranging from foreign policy to taxes to affirmative action; the organization is also well known for inspiring young people in our state to become involved with politics and for maintaining an active presence as a lobby at the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, The members of the Young Conservatives of Texas have consistently worked hard for the principles in which they believe, and they have contributed their time and energy to many political campaigns; and WHEREAS, On March 2, 2005, the members of the Young Conservatives of Texas will observe their group's 25th anniversary; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Young Conservatives of Texas on their hard work and accomplishments and extend best wishes to all on the occasion of the organization's anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Young Conservatives of Texas as an expression of esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
