R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Raymond and Chris Root's four sons, Jarod, Jordan, Jacob, and Jayden, have each earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious honor offered by the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, On November 7, 2004, the Root family celebrated as Jacob and Jayden were honored for their significant accomplishments by Troop 668 in a ceremony at First Baptist Church in Gainesville; and WHEREAS, Elder sons Jarod and Jordan attended and participated in the ceremony as Eagle Scouts themselves, having earned their rank in 1994 and 1998, respectively; Jarod has wanted to be an Eagle Scout since attending his first Cub Scout meeting, and at age 14 he became the youngest Eagle in troop history; his brother, Jordan, followed his path and completed an impressive video identification system for the Claude Jones Day Care Center as his Eagle Scout service project; and WHEREAS, Although the boys' father earned the designation Life Scout as a young boy, he did not have the opportunity to complete the community service project required to become an Eagle Scout; however, he encouraged his sons to fulfill their own dreams, while their mother, a former Girl Scout, nurtured their extraordinary devotion to service and personal growth; and WHEREAS, Jacob and Jayden, the most recent members of the Root family to become Eagle Scouts, had large shoes to fill in their quest for scouting's highest honor; Jacob knew he wanted to follow in his brothers' footsteps, and after completing his project by repainting the trim of the Claude Jones Day Care Center, he achieved that goal; Jayden began his pursuit of the Eagle insignia at age 12, when he felt the encouraging nudge of his older brothers; his project included the clearing of excess vegetation from the grounds of the House of Hope, which provides English as a Second Language classes in Gainesville; and WHEREAS, In a pleasant surprise toward the end of Troop 668's ceremony, Mr. Root was named an Honorary Eagle Scout for his service to the organization and encouragement of his sons' goals; Mr. and Mrs. Root's supportive and loving relationship with their four sons is testament to the power of the familial bond, and this important achievement in their lives will be remembered and cherished for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scouts Jarod, Jordan, Jacob, and Jayden Root on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and commend their parents, Honorary Eagle Scout Raymond Root and Chris Root, for fostering their sons' commitment to community service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Root family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
