R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, United States Navy Corpsman Jose Ramos of El Paso sustained injuries on July 28, 2004, in Iraq, and he is most deserving of our highest praise for risking his life in service to his country; and WHEREAS, While serving in the town of Karma, this courageous graduate of Montwood High School was seriously wounded when a rocket was fired into a group of American soldiers; and WHEREAS, Though he lost a portion of his arm in the attack, Corpsman Ramos did not lose the passion and fortitude with which he served his country; after returning stateside, he took part in the ING New York City Marathon and earned the Avis "We Try Harder" award for perseverance in overcoming obstacles; and WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and this nation, Jose Ramos embodies the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and it is indeed a privilege to join in welcoming him home and recognizing his latest achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Jose Ramos of El Paso for his service to his country and his indomitable spirit, and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and fulfillment in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Corpsman Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
