R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Suzie Azar served with distinction as the first female mayor of El Paso from 1989 to 1991, setting an example of civic leadership and community service to which others may aspire; and WHEREAS, Since leaving office, Ms. Azar has remained active in civic affairs while pursuing her interest in aviation; she started a refueling and hangar-leasing business at the Dona Ana County Airport and currently serves as president of Blue Feather Aero, which offers flight instruction and charter service; and WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed Texan served as president of the Amigo Air Show in 2004 and, together with her daughter, Christine Gardy, finished first in the Mile High Air Derby, a 500-mile race through the skies of Colorado; and WHEREAS, A woman of countless successes, Suzie Azar has opened the door for other civic-minded women who will follow in her footsteps, and she may take justifiable pride in her achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Suzie Azar on her contributions to her community as a businesswoman and civic leader and extend to her best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Azar as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
