R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Diego Martinez of El Paso has bravely battled cancer 
with a grace and resolve that belie his youthful age; and
	WHEREAS, In the summer of 2004, this beloved eight-year-old 
was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma, which is now in remission 
thanks to the care of professionals at Providence Hospital and the 
unwavering spirit of their courageous patient; and
	WHEREAS, This special boy recently enjoyed the generosity of 
the Reach for a Star Foundation, which awarded him a $1,000 shopping 
spree at an area retail store, where he quickly grabbed a 
long-coveted item, a Star Wars video game; his enchantment with his 
newfound treasure was so engrossing that his mother had to remind 
him to continue shopping; and
	WHEREAS, With the love and support of his parents, Brett 
Goodwin and Eva Martinez, Diego Martinez continues to struggle with 
an unjust enemy, refusing to let the disease dampen his love for 
life; he is an inspiration to all those who are fortunate enough to 
know him, and it is a pleasure to pay tribute to this gentle soul; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Diego Martinez for his strength and 
determination and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 
recovery; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
